Michael Dougherty To Direct Calling All Robots

Michael Dougherty ”Variety” Reports:

“Michael Dougherty has teamed with Walt Disney Pictures and Robert Zemeckis’ ImageMovers on “Calling All Robots,” an animated sci-fi adventure the scribe plans to direct using the same type of performance capture technology recently deployed to produce “Beowulf.” Details of the project are being kept under wraps, but it uses performance capture to “tell a story that’s a throwback to old Godzilla movies,” Dougherty said. “I grew up watching Godzilla movies. This film is very much rooted in those movies.”

I have never really liked this whole style of filmmaking. It just seems pointless to digitally enchance an actor when you could save money just filming it yourself. And the films have not exactley been masterpieces. I mean Polar Express was okay but looked insanley creepy. And “Beowulf” looked better but was a pretty bad film. Well, by the title of this one I think it sounds pretty interesting and think that this will be the project that creates the best product with this new technology. And I think Michael Dougherty ( X2) is one of those writers who really knows what it means to have fun at the movies.- Movie Rat Mike
